Set in 1995 and 2020, this story makes us ponder how we have changed over the last 25 years.
A freak accident suddenly puts the main character in a vegetative state as a 10-year-old girl. Everyone in her family, which broke apart from the resulting regret and guilt, and her now fully-grown first love, all currently live a lonesome existence. Only her mother continued to keep a watchful eye on her, hopeful that she would miraculously regain consciousness.
After 25 long years, the "girl" with a 35-year-old body but a 10-year-old mind wakes up! Trying to fill every void, she rushes to accumulate over two decades' worth of experiences and matures as she goes through pains and heartbreaks. The 10-year-old at heart goes to middle school, high school, and eventually blossoms into a woman--one that appears to embody what we all have witnessed over the last 25 years.

Lead character Rei Okumori was in his last year of middle school when he killed his father to protect his mother from domestic violence. Rei and his mother Shoko buried the corpse in the yard, dumped the father's favorite car in the ocean, and staged everything to look like a missing person case. Just like that, Rei's crime became a "secret" between only him and his mother. He decides he doesn't need any friends or a girlfriend and lives under the radar without forming deep relationships with anyone.
Rei works tirelessly to become a lawyer--a dream that is the only meaning he finds in life. Shoko blames herself for being the reason her son has to bear a heavy burden for life and wishes from the bottom of her heart that he will be happy.
Eight years after the murder, Rei meets Sawa Tachibana, an innocent girl who attends the same law school and dreams of becoming a prosecutor. Reiko Doi, 49 years old non-mama who had got divorced, works for an advertising agency. She is dropped from promotion ladder because it’s easier for men to be on the fast track, and she feels small because the general public prefer working mother to non-mama.
She feels that both the public and the agency are embarrassed with how to treat her these days. At such time, she is notified that she will be a chief director. She decides to work hard and to connect people through her career, she couldn’t connect her life to next generation, though. But managerial position is much harder than she expected.

東京の中堅広告代理店勤務の土井玲子（鈴木保奈美）。
クリエイティブ畑で活躍している、49歳、バツイチ、子無し。男女雇用機会均等法が施行されたばかりの1989年入社組、つまりコキン法第一世代。コキン法と共に男性社会で生きてきた・・・と言っても過言ではない。
「女性が男性と肩を並べて働ける時代になりました！後輩のお手本となりなさい！」と国や世論からも背中を押され社会に飛び込んだものの、長い歴史ある男性社会の中で、冷たい目や理不尽な仕打ちに耐えながら、一生懸命泳いできた。
